On Sunday, the Eucharistic Youth Movement (Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể) gathers youth and teenagers in the Vietnamese Cultural Center (Trung Tâm Lạc Việt) for cultural and spiritual activities prior to Sunday Mass. These activities include Praise and Worship, and Weekly Gospel sharing, Catechism for First Communion students, pre-Confirmation and Confirmation students, and fun interactive games for all youth to enliven the scriptures in their lives. Because many of our Vietnamese American youth do not have a great command for the Vietnamese language in speaking and/or writing, the Vietnamese Language and Culture Classes for these Vietnamese children are offered during the hours of religious education as well. We, the Vietnamese Americans, in the Community of Faith at Christ the King believe that it is tremendously vital in instilling the children the knowledge of their heritage while living the faith as Catholics at Christ the King and enacting our faith in the community at large.
Our Sunday Mass is held at 2:00 P.M. in the church. On Feast Day and Solemnity, mass is being held at 8:00 P.M. in the church. After every Sunday Mass, our congregants are welcome in the Vietnamese Cultural Center where members and guests can gather to exchange conversations and purchase prepared Vietnamese traditional dishes. The sale of these authentic Vietnamese culinary dishes serves as a source of fundraising to upkeep and maintain the Vietnamese Cultural Center where it has been the heart of all our religious, social, and cultural activities since Bishop Thanh Nguyen’s inception in 2000 and the Grand Opening in 2007. The Vietnamese Center also functions as an entertainment venue and rental facility as needed.
There are two choirs – the St. Joseph Choir – Ca Đoàn Thánh Giuse (Adults’ Choir) and Loving & Faith Choir – Ca Đoàn Tin Yêu (Children’s Choir) – singing at Mass. The Children’s Choir sings every second Sunday of the month.
The Vietnamese Catholic Women Movement (Hội Các Bà Mẹ Công Giáo) and The Sacred Heart Movement for Men (Hội Liên Minh Thánh Tâm) meet once a month for prayers and thought sharing. These core-groups are very active in our community. Liturgical services at mass as well as cultural social culinary services at the Vietnamese Cultural Center they are always there.
Other ministries such as the Vietnamese Pastoral Council, Ministers of the Word and of the Eucharist, Ushers, Hospitality Team, and Altar Servers welcome all who would like to serve.
